GET UP RISE UP: Direct Action Fund – Call for Applications for Africa Week of Action
IMPORTANT: This is not your traditional INGO/NGO/CSO grant. This fund supports disruptive, creative, and strategic nonviolent direct actions – not trainings, not panel talks, not charity work. Please read the eligibility criteria carefully before applying. Let’s not waste each other’s time. Thank you!
Africa Week of Action focus - TOTALEnergies
For this round, the GURU Fund is prioritizing applications from Africa-based groups planning direct actions targeting TotalEnergies as part of the #KickTotalOutofAfrica Africa Week of Action. TotalEnergies continues to drive displacement, environmental destruction, and fossil fuel expansion across the continent. This is a moment to resist – boldly, nonviolently, and creatively.
We welcome applications from movements, collectives, informal or formal groups organizing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) nonviolent direct actions that expose, disrupt, or resist TotalEnergies’ destructive influence – including actions opposing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). Actions could be Mass demonstrations & marches, Community speak-outs or town halls, Artivations (murals, theatre, installations, protest music), Public teach-ins, forums, Disruptive direct actions, Digital storms, photo and video solidarity campaigns
This round is in partnership with Beautiful Trouble, the StopEACOP Coalition, 350.org, Climate Action Network, and Africans Rising. We encourage actions that contribute knowledge and tactics back to the wider movement.
Applicants must agree and accept the Get Up Rise Up fund criteria - you can read more through the application form.
Grant size: Up to $1,500 USD
